After having received several comments of other national automobile clubs, La Locomotion Automobile was prepared to post the final regulations for the Gordon Bennett Cup races. One week before finally publishing these rules, a short mention-before was given, summarising the most important points of the rules in this 19 October issue. (Translation included at the end).

V. F. contre M. Viterbo, chronométreur officiel.

Automobile Club of France, Sports Commission.
— At the most recent meeting of the Sports Commission, after routine business had been concluded, the rules for the Gordon-Bennett Cup were drafted.
Here are the main points of the proposal:
The competition is international, and the challenge may be issued by clubs from any country recognized by the A.C.F.; however, each country may not enter more than three cars.
The clubs currently recognized by the Automobile-Club de France are the A.C.s of Belgium, Austria, Turin, Great Britain, and Switzerland.
The challenge must be backed by a deposit of 3,000 francs, which will be returned at the start.
The race will take place from May 15 to August 15; the challenge must be issued before January 1.
The cars must be built entirely in the country of the club issuing the challenge and driven by an amateur.
The car that crosses the finish line first will secure victory for its club; the starts will be in a single file.
The course will be between 550 and 650 kilometers; it will be from city to city or will consist of several round trips, with no single leg being less than 150 kilometers.
The race will always be conducted under the 1899 regulations of the A.C.F.
The Commission then decided to create a new category of small cars with a maximum weight limit of 400 kilograms.
Finally, in response to a request from the Union Vélocipédique de France, it was decided to extend to A.C.F. events the disqualification imposed by the U.V.F. against Mr. Viterbo, the official timekeeper.
