After winning the 1904 Gordon Bennett Cup, France finally was a **-times Cup winner. generally, the French and their, at that time world leading, automotive industry were at the least „not so amused“ with the contents and the multitude of the Gordon Bennet regulations. To say: they wanted a different race series. Therefore, the Grand Prix was proposed. These proposals were published by the end of 1904. Much critic came from most of the other racing and countries. A long discussion came up and, though France originally wanted to organise it’s first Grand Prix in 1905, it finally would be 1906 before it even got started.
