The 1905 Vanderbilt Cup, the second one,  even draw more spectators than the year before; a total of 500.000 was estimated! Imagine that many spectators alongside 28 miles. Winner was Victor Hémery in a Darracq, with last year’s winner George Heath finishing second. Third was the American Joe Tracy in a Locomobile; the first American driver and car that placed in an international contest. The crowd’s favorite, Vincenzo Lancia, finished fourth, due to a collision with Christie.
