This would be the last Grand Prix before the outbreak of World War I. It was more an automotive battle between two nations. On July 5, no less than 37 (!) cars started on the 37 km course near to Lyon for the 752 km race. Maximum displacement 4.5 ltrs and max. weight 1.100 kg. The Mercedes team, consisting of no less than 5 cars, clearly won. It was also a result of a thorough preparation and a meticulous race strategy. Lautenschlager won, with two more Mercedeses on 2nd and 3rd place. Peugeot came home 4th. From there on, it would need seven dark years, before the next Grand Prix de l’ACF rerurned in 1921.
