In 1905, a circuit around the city of Brescia was used for the Coppa Florio. This was won, surprisingly by Raggio in an Itala. From 1906 on, the Madonie circuit was used for the Targa Florio. Laid out on the mountaneous aerea of Sicily, the Targa Florio became one of the most, if not the most, streneous races in Europe. Leading through mountains with their ancient old villages, it was a splendid-picture-guaranteed racing spectacle.
